HIV & Wellness Workshop #16
This workshop was held on Saturday 23rd June 2018 at the Brisbane International Virginia. This year we had record numbers enrol in the HIV & Wellness workshop, a total of 65 participants enrolled as face to face participants, of this 65, 13 participants withdrew from the event and 13 participants did not show up on the day. Of the 39 that attended the day we received 36 completed evaluations forms. Download the evaluation report.
The ‘Implementing the National Cervical Screening Program Renewal: Getting it Right’
This update was held on Saturday 17th March 2018 at the Hub auditorium at Sunshine Coast Hospital, in Birtinya. It was designed by Iris Education in collaboration with the Cancer Screening Unit, Preventive Health Branch, of the Department of Health to inform the health workforce about the National Cervical Screening Program (NCSP) Renewal. Best Practice in Transgender Health: A Workshop for GPs, Health Care Providers, Trans Individuals and Parents
This workshop was developed for health professionals who work with transgender people, or wish to know more about providing health services to this community. The focus of the workshop was designed to be at the level of GP management. This workshop introduced participants to the professional skills needed for working safely, effectively and respectfully with trans communities. The workshop was held on the 10th & 11th February 2018. Download the evaluation report.
Moving Ahead: The National Cervical Screening Program Renewal
The ‘Moving Ahead: The National Cervical Screening Program Renewal’ update, held on Saturday 28th October 2017 at the Hilton Hotel in Cairns, Far North Queensland, was designed by Iris Education in collaboration with the Cancer Screening Unit, Preventive Health Branch, of the Department of Health to inform the health workforce about the National Cervical Screening Program (NCSP) Renewal. Iris Education was tasked with this work following its first successful update in April 2017 in Brisbane. This was the first update staged in Cairns to discuss the NCSP Renewal in Australia. The Cancer Screening and Prevention Forum, held on Saturday 23rd September 2017 at the Sydney International Conference and Exhibition Centre was designed by Iris Education in collaboration with the team from the Cancer Institute of NSW (CINSW) to inform the health workforce about the National Cervical Screening Program (NCSP) Renewal. This update was developed for health professionals working in the area of Women’s Health, particularly in cancer screening and prevention. The focus of the update was designed to be at the level of GP management. This update introduced participants to the contemporary evidence and professional skills needed to implement the renewed NCSP and examined broader topics in cancer prevention. Was designed by Iris Education to fulfil an unmet need in education in the reproductive and sexual health sector. Iris Education provides a broad range of professional development. The Sexual Health First Aid Workshop was staged by Iris Education. 24 people participated in the second workshop and the response to the workshop was very positive and strong. The Forefront of STI's Weapons and Strategies - 24th November 2016
This update presented the latest information, evidence, guidelines and research on common and emerging Sexually Transmitted Infections including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, mycoplasma genitalium, syphilis and HPV in the era of vaccination. The update drew upon experts in each area to provide participants with emerging knowledge and trends in each area. Download the evaluation report

The evaluation of the workshop demonstrates that this workshop meet the ‘First Aid’ need in this area and builds the confidence of participants to engage in these topics. IUD Workshop - Springfield - 11th June 2016
After the workshop, 95% of participants rated their understanding of LARC (long-acting reversible contraception) and the role of IUDs within this contraceptive framework as either excellent or above average. 100% of participants indicated that the learning objectives for the workshop, related to IUD counselling and insertion practice, were entirely met.

Health Workforce Queensland - Women's Health and Gynaecology in General Practice- two-day workshop - Cairns - April 2016
Following the workshop, 100% of participants reported that both their confidence and competence in the initial assessment, treatment and management of women's health and gynecological cases was high or very high. When rating whether or not the workshop met the objectives of clinical strength and weakness recognition, development of decision making skill and coverage of areas of learning needs, all participants responded with either "strongly agree" or "agree".
Health Workforce Queensland - Women's Health and Gynaecology in General Practice - two-day workshop - Brisbane - September 2015
Overall, participants were very satisfied with the content and organisation of the Women’s Health workshop and its utility in achieving overall workshop objectives and increasing skills. They also indicated that objectives specific to Women’s Health were well met. Rural and remote practitioners indicated that these workshops and CPD in general impacted on specific aspects relevant to rural and remote practice, in particular professional isolation. All feedback was positive and constructive in nature.
