Dr Steve Lambert DipT BEd MPH PhD
Steve Lambert has worked in public health since 1994 and holds qualifications in education and in health. After moving from teaching positions Steve worked for a HIV community based organisation in Queensland for 4 years and then transferred to the University of Queensland, School of Medicine where he coordinated HIV, sexual health and viral hepatitis education. This included responsibility for the design, development and ongoing evaluation of the system of accreditation to prescribe HIV antiretroviral therapies in Queensland, including the development of the Prescribers’ Course in HIV Medicine and the development of dedicated education courses in HIV for nurses.
Steve’s expertise in evaluation has seen him involved in international reviews of sexual health and HIV programs for the UNFPA; the Secretariat for Pacific Communities (SPC); ASHM and Marie Stopes International. This has included more than 18 different countries as diverse as Papua New Guinea, Tunisia, Serbia, Egypt, Kenya, Kirbati and Tonga.
Steve’s PhD involved an examination of sexual risk and behaviour in the Australian Defence Force. Steve’s most recent work has been within the medical intern training sector in Queensland, Victoria and across Australia.
