Implanon Training for Healthcare Professionals
This course is designed for
Medical practitioners including GPs and GP registrars, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and midwives (with experience in local anaesthetic administration and contraceptive counselling).
This face to face 2.5 hour educational event will provide participants with information on LARCs (long acting reversible contraception) and the knowledge and skill to insert and remove Implanon NXT in clinical practice. The training will cover:

Course requirements
Medical Practitioners including GPs and GP registrars, nurse practitioners, registered nurses or midwifes who have current medical registration and professional indemnity insurance. Iris education recommends that participants ensure they are confident in this procedure before commencing insertion and removal in practice. Additional supervision should be arranged if there is remaining uncertainty.

- The role of LARCs (long acting reversible contraception) in clinical practice
- Counselling with regard to use of the etonogestrel implant (Implanon NXT)
- Insertion and removal procedures for Implanon
