In Practice IUD Insertion Training for General Practitioners (GPs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs)
Training Information
This training is designed for GPs and NPs who already have a special interest and competence in Women’s Health, Contraception and LARC. The Iris Education model of IUD training involves a theoretical component provided at the outset of training to the trainee (by mail and phone discussion) followed by one-on-one training in the practical aspects of IUD insertion in the clinician's own clinical setting.
The training is conducted either over two 3-4 hour sessions or one full day of training. Once completed, the successful trainee is awarded the "Certificate of Completion of IUD Insertion Training" to provide to their Medical Indemnifier before they commence their IUD practice. This training is accredited with ACRRM and provides RACGP CPD hours in all three categories of activities - Educational Activity, Reviewing Performance and Measuring Outcomes. Information will be provided to self log these hours.
Training is able to be conducted anywhere in QLD, dependent on the Training Practice covering the cost of travel and accommodation for the Iris Education trainer.
Training Requirements
Participation in this training requires the GP or NP learner to recruit up to 8 of their own patients who are requesting an IUD. The training experience involves the trainee inserting IUDs for these patients in their own clinical setting under the one-on-one supervision of the Iris Education IUD Trainer.
The GP's or NP's nurse assistant's involvement in this training is critical.
Training Benefits
As well as enabling you to better serve your local medical community by becoming an IUD provider, this training provides comprehensive resources and access to follow up from clinical experts in the field. Training In-Practice saves you time and money.
Training Cost
The fee for this training is $2500.00. Travel costs of the trainer ($60.00 per hour) are to be met by the Practice or trainee. Such costs are incurred if the Iris Trainer needs to travel more than 30 minutes from the Brisbane CBD, and if required, flights and accommodation. Contact Iris Education for an exact costing at your location. It is expected that 50% of the fee will be paid before commencement of the training, with the remainder paid on completion. When considering the cost of training be aware that the performance of the 8 IUD training insertions involved attracts approximately $1200.00 in Medicare payments for your Practice.
Trainee Feedback
"Dr Mack has been a wonderful trainer...approachable, answering all of my questions..."
"I couldn't ask for a better training method, delivered in my practice...including both me and my nurse...Training quality does not come better than this."
"Perfect training, delivered to both of us."
